Inks Lake State Park, 5/23 - 5/25/15

27. Scampsite #210, it's a big park.  Our friends joined us for this trip.  Inks Lake has hiking trails, but is more known for it's lake, boat rentals, and ample camping.  We hiked to the falls, which were flowing mightily due to recent rains.  We also explored 2 local wineries: Fall Creek and Perissos.

Sunset at Scampsite #210.

View of the lake from our Scampsite.

The Falls!

Fall Creek Vineyard.

The nearest county seat is Burnet, which is a lovely little town.  Eagles nest near Burnet every winter at Canyon of the Eagles Nature Park, there are also good shopping, antiquing, restaurants and at least 2 vineyards in and around Burnet.  The courthouse is lovely too, and you can take the Austin Steam Train from Cedar Park to Burnet.

The day we left here, Central Texas experienced horrific flooding and tornadoes.  We actually got tornado alerts on our phones on our way home.  We will always remember the rain of this weekend.
